VP Terry Dittes has announced a tentative agreement being reached with GM.  The language will be reviewed by the GM Council in Detroit tomorrow.  If approved, it will be rolled out to the membership and voted on in the coming days.  WE WILL HOLD THE LINE AND STAY ON STRIKE UNTIL OTHERWISE NOTIFIED!  See the letter here.

The International Union has given our Financial Secretary permission to hold checks for those members with extenuating circumstances, who must miss the pick up window.  We ask that all are considerate of this new policy and recognize that there will be times when your held check can't be accessed by proper people to give to you, for example in off hours.  We are trying to make this as easy on the members as we can.

We have just received word that strike pay checks will be available for pickup next Wednesday, 10/2, and Thursday, 10/3, 7am-5pm, at the Union Hall. This will be the weekly schedule, each Wednesday and Thursday going forward.

  1. You must pick up your own check. NO EXCEPTIONS.

  2. Bring photo ID

  3. No checks will be mailed

  4. Checks not picked up will be immediately returned to the International Union.

  5. You will not get your check if you have not fulfilled your mandatory 8 hours of strike duty.

In another shameful act to confuse and mess with the lives of our members, GM has felt the public pressure and reinstated health care coverage for striking workers.  See the official notice from VP Terry Dittes here

We just received a letter from the International that GM did in fact cutoff our healthcare. This has never happened before. Our healthcare has always went to the end of the month. This just goes to show you what type of people we are dealing with. Cobra will pick up insurance through the International as stated in letter.  This letter does not impact retirees, as they are covered by the VEBA.

Many of you have been asking about the paperwork for registration regarding pay and benefits. We have spoken with our International auditor and he says they are working their way through all locals, starting with the larger and working their way to the smaller. They are the ones who give us the paperwork to make that all happen, so until they get to us, we cannot process anything.
It will happen. Be patient and stay tuned. We will alert you as soon as that happens.

In Solidarity!
